AUC Module: Navigate AUC Guidelines in PCA Start Mode

  • updated 1 yr ago

The Priority Clinical Area (PCA) is one of the starting points for accessing a guideline. This start mode is available in the AUC Module and you can set it as your default in the Settings module. You can also switch to the CPT start mode from this screen.

PCA Start Mode

  1. Select a Priority Clinical Area.

  2. Choose an Advanced Imaging Service that is supported by the selected AUC guideline. The system will display a list that you can search by CPT code. If you do not see a particular Advanced Imaging Service in the list, click All at top of the list to expand the filter to include CPT codes that are not included in the guideline. You will need to run a validation on these as well, but the system will produce a "no-criteria-apply" outcome for those selections. Those imaging services that, under PAMA, do not require an AUC consultation are marked with an asterisk (*).

    - Note: If your organization's administrator has enabled the CPT filter in the settings, you can use the filter button at the top-right of the list to switch between a filtered and unfiltered list of CPT codes.

  3. Once you select an Advanced Imaging Service, the system opens the interactive user interface for the AUC guideline. On the right side of the screen you see the decision tree for the guideline. In the center part of the screen, the system displays the condition options associated with the guideline.

  4. Select from the condition options. The system advances you through the decision tree and presents you with additional condition options.

  5. As you move through a guideline, note that the top section of the guideline boxes serves as a status indicator. This status indicator box displays the current outcome status: appropriate, inappropriate, or insufficient patient data.

With outcomes that are inappropriate you have the option to select override. Additionally, the Emergency button is always present and you can use it to shortcut the validation in case of immediate urgency.

  6. Once you have progressed through the guideline, the system displays the imaging recommendation. If appropriate, the system displays the primary and alternative recommendations. Select one of these options. Note: The outcome of some condition selections in a guideline is a combination of two imaging recommendations.

  7. If you have previously completed the recommended option, click the checkbox next to Previously completed. The Guideline will display additional questions for you to answer and may suggest alternative actions.

  8. When you entered a Guideline, you selected a certain Imaging Service. If, after validation, the Guideline finds this Imaging Service is appropriate the Guideline will allow you to select the Confirm draft order button.

  9. If, after you enter the patient condition, the Guideline recommends another more suitable Imaging Service, the Guideline will allow you select Update draft order. The system will display the CDSM AUC Consultation Result screen with a draft order that is appropriate based on the selections you made in the Guideline.
  10. Once you have selected a recommendation and confirmed your order the system displays a popup screen with your order for review. Review and submit your consultation results. See AUC Module: Review and Submit Your Order for more information about this step.
