LogicNets AUC Portal
The LogicNets AUC Portal is a web-based application that assists both ordering and furnishing professionals in setting up, performing, and reviewing AUC consultations for advanced imaging orders as required under PAMA.
Consultation Validation
The LogicNets AUC Portal assists ordering professionals (physicians or their authorized proxies) in rapidly identifying and selecting the clinical scenario and advanced imaging service to be validated. It then invokes the corresponding visual AUC guidelines so that the user can easily follow diagnostic protocols and determine if the selected service is appropriate and either select that service or a recommended alternative.
After performing the validation, the ordering professional receives a summary of the consultation along with the required HCPCS code, G-Code, and unique consultation identifier (UCI), which are all generated by the system. This information is required for receiving CMS reimbursement for advanced imaging orders. The information can be copied using the clipboard to the ordering system; it can be rendered as a PDF and printed, emailed, or faxed to a furnishing provider; or it can be forwarded electronically by the LogicNets AUC Portal directly to furnishing professionals who are also accessing the system. The system retains the full set of information from the validation and the unique consultation identifier (UCI) can be used in the future as a reference to review and audit the consultation, should it be required.
Imaging Workflow
Using the system, providers can share AUC consultation results with the imaging center that is going to process the order, and the system includes workflow functionality that facilitates communication between the ordering provider and imaging center.
This workflow has the potential to ensure a smoother handoff of orders between clinicians and imaging professionals and guarantees only correct and complete orders are submitted.
Note that, while LogicNets enables sharing of the AUC validation results, it is not an ordering system. Ordering professionals still need to provide a valid signed order to the imaging center and can use the shared LogicNets portal access as a means of conveying proof of validation.
Reporting
The system's reporting functionality gives clinicians the statistical overview of the AUC consultations performed and, most importantly, allows them to meet any requirements from CMS for providing summary reports that indicate compliance with PAMA. Additionally, these reports can be used to determine variance from broader norms established across the Medicare/Medicaid community.
Accessing the Portal
You can access the AUC Portal with a free subscription, although a paid subscription is required for generating valid UCIs for AUC consultations validated by the LogicNets AUC CDSM service. This arrangement means one organization can acquire the CDSM and PAMA compliance functionality and allow any affiliate or partner organization to have legitimate access to play a role in processing orders. As an example, an imaging center can acquire the CDSM service and notify their outpatient clinic clients that they can avail themselves of the service by simply signing up for a free subscription in the AUC Portal.
