From rel8 on, the part editor tab navigation is sticky. Whichever tab is active for the node you are inspecting or editing, this tab is activated when you switch to another node.

This way, you can quickly make the same update to multiple nodes without having to navigate to the right tab each time.

In rel8.4 this feature can be disabled in the System Configuration package.
